Renoir (2012), de Gilles Bourdos, lançado em maio do ano passado na França, acaba de chegar ao Brasil e, como se não bastasse o atraso, está disponível em apenas nas salas Itaú Cinemas. Independentemente das intempéries, o longa é um retrato comovente da vida do impressionista Auguste Renoir (1841 – 1919), mas não espere um drama cult, ao contrário, o filme demonstra sensibilidade sem ser piegas e, ainda assim, conseguindo, literalmente, colocar as “tintas” do biografado na tela.

Assim como Derek Jarman fez com Caravaggio, em seu longa homônimo de 1986, Bourdos aproveitou as características de seu “personagem” para compor a fotografia. Por isso, não se espante em ver cenário que lembram grandes obras de Renoir, como “Mulher amamentando” e “Rosa e azul”. A beleza das paisagens e as cores fortes, mas sem saturação, não escondem o tormento de um homem que há pouco perdeu a esposa e vive as dores de uma artrite que o corrói, quase o impedindo de trabalhar.

Renoir é vivido por Michel Bouquet e impõe ao personagem a seriedade e a serenidade de um artista maduro que se vê rejuvenescido ao encontrar uma nova musa, Andrée Heuschling (Christa Theret). Entre tudo isso, seu filho Jean (Vincent Rottiers) volta ferido da Primeira Guerra Mundial e começa a se apaixonar por Andrée e também pelo cinema – sem dúvida, sua maior paixão e que o levaria à fama com clássicos como A Regra do jogo (1939), A Grande ilusão (1937) e a célebre adaptação do clássico realista Madame Bovary (1933).

Comoção lenta

Colocando lado a lado os dilemas artísticos e éticos, Renoir consegue abordar a brutalidade da guerra sem mostrar a morte e sem se apoderar de lugares-comuns sobre o tempo. Bourdos não transforma o fim da vida de um artista consagrado em um martírio público, tampouco inflige ao expectador a comoção lenta da morte.

Morrissey cancela shows na América do Sul e se aproxima da aposentadoria

Como era de se esperar, o cantor britânico Morrissey, ex-líder do The Smiths, não virá mais ao Brasil. No começo do mês ele esteve em Lima, onde deveria fazer o primeiro show da turnê sul-americana, no entanto, o bardo e sua equipe foram “acometidos” de intoxicação alimentar na capital peruana e precisaram voltar para Los Angeles – atual QG do cantor.

Há rumores de que ele teria sido tratado com descaso pelos médicos em Lima, o que fez com que tivesse de regressar aos EUA para se tratado pelo seu médico pessoal. Em um comunicado em seu site proto-oficial, o True to You, Morrissey havia confirmado que algumas das datas do Chile, além de Lima, obviamente, seriam prejudicadas pelo “contratempo”, mas que sua  vinda para o Brasil e para a Argentina estava certa.

O caso mudou quando, na última sexta-feira (19), Morrissey anunciou que a turnê estava impossibilitada de acontecer por falta de recursos, já que as datas restantes tornariam todo o processo muito oneroso e não seria economicamente viável. Em comunicado no True to You, Morrissey deixou transparecer sua amargura com os cancelamentos dos shows na América do Sul como tanto também o fim abrupto de sua tour pelos EUA, interrompida por uma úlcera hemorrágica.

Em resumo, ele comentou que, desde 2009, quando teve um colapso no palco, sua saúde não anda bem. Vale lembrar que, no ano passado, Morrissey disse que pretende se aposentar aos 55 anos, ou seja, em 2014.

Smashing Pumpkins anuncia relançamento da caixa “The Aeroplane Flies High”

Depois de lançar o controvertido Oceania, que dividiu opiniões em 2012, Billy Corgan e sua trupe preparam mais uma grata surpresa para seus fãs. O Smashing Pumpkins vai relançar – no dia 29 de julho – a caixa The Aeroplane Flies High, que havia saído, originalmente, em 1996. No entanto, além das 33 músicas que continha na época, o re-issue trará também outra 90 canções – entre takes altertivos, outtakes e coisas mais.

Como se isso já não fosse o bastante, a caixa contará com um CD ao vivo – com gravações de diversos shows da tour do Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, um dos álbuns mais emblemáticos da banda. No total, a caixa trará 6 CDs, 5 vinis e um DVD.

Assim como “Do I wanna know?”, “2013” tem aquela pegada do Humbug e do – famigerado, mas muito bom – Suck it and see. Por sinal, a faixa vai b-side do compacto de “Do I wanna know?” que sai na próxima segunda-feira (22).

É o tempo dos retornos. Sem nada de novo desde Come around the sundown, de 2010, o Kings of Leon já começa a deixar um gostinho de apreensão nos fãs ao divulgar a primeira música de seu novo disco Mechanical Bull, previsto para 24 de setembro. “Supersoaker” saiu nesta quarta-feira (17), mas deve ser apresentada na próxima segunda-feira (22) no programa Jimmy Fallon.

Entre os lançamentos mais esperados – a partir do segundo semestre – estão Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys e a coletânea de raridades e b-sides do Belle & Sebastian.

Flaming Lips lança clipe bizarro para “Turning violent”

A levar em conta o histórico audacioso de Wayne Coyne, mente e voz do Flaming Lips, não é de se admirar o que os norte-americanos foram capazes de fazer no vídeo de “Turning violent”, single tirado do álbum The Terror, lançado em abril deste ano.

Sem deixar de lado o experimentalismo, o vídeo tira o espectador de sua “paz de espírito” tão logo é possível. (Mas isso não é novidade para os fãs do Flaming lips.)

Por falar em esquisitice, deve chegar às lojas ainda em 2013 o disco Lip$ha, parceria dos psicodélicos com a estranha Ke$ha – algo tão bizarra quanto a parceria entre o Lou Reed e o Metallica, que originou Lulu, um dos piores discos de 2011.

Dia internacional do cassete. Até que demorou para chegar, mas aproveitou o oportuno momento em que as fitinhas estão voltando com tudo – impulsionado pelos lançamentos recentes no formato, como o duo Treasureseason que deu vida ao seu primeiro EP em K7.

Marcado para 7 de setembro, o Dia Internacional das Lojas de Cassete, como os organizadores têm chamado o evento, conta com colaborações pesadas de gravadoras como a Domino, do Franz Ferdinand e Arctic Monkeys, a Rough Trade, do Belle & Sebaatian e The Smiths, e a 4AD, do Cocteau Twins. Entre os artistas que já confirmaram presença no evento estão Flaming Lips, At the Drive-in e Fucked up.

A ideia é muito simples e similar ao Record Store Day (RSD): levantar as vendas do formato por meio da paixão e da obsessão de colecionadores. Como essa é a primeira edição, ainda é cedo para dizer se vai dar certo como o seu irmão mais velho, o RSD, mas eventos ao redor do mundo já pipocam para celebrar o cassete.
